FRACTIONED VACUUM AUTOCLAVE - Egle 20 - CBM Small steam-powered fractioned vacuum autoclave sterilizing units are widely used for the sterilization of medical devices and material that comes in contact with blood and other bodily fluids. Autoclaves have a wide field of use. Dentists, surgeons, veterinary doctors are some of the main users of small sterilising units. Nowadays steam sterilizing units are also used by non-medical professionals, like tattoo artists, hairdressers and beauticians. Each field of application has its own needs. C.B.M. has developed steam-powered fractioned vacuum autoclave steam sterilizers for years in order to meet the various needs of the each user. C.B.M. moreover means respect for European regulations. Our firm was in fact involved in drawing up European regulations on small steam sterilizers (CEN TC102 Wg5). Pre-vacuum is no longer so effective when loads to be sterilized are very porous or provided with very deep hollows, such as endoscopes, turbines and stricks. The best technique to remove air from loads is a proper combination of mechanical removal and steam injection. A fractionated vacuum cycle represents the soundest method of steam sterilization, The air closed in the load is compressed and heated during the steam injection phases. Subsequently the pump shall collect the air which has "flown away" from the load by means of heating. Thanks to the effectiveness of the fractionated vacuum method all the tests required by the latest European standards for small steam sterilizers, such as the "Helix" test and the "Bowie & Dick" one are successfully overcome.
