The gamma detector, model RS03/X, developed and manufactured by BITT Technology, serves for measuring of radioactivity of the gamma radiation. It has been calibrated in "ambient dose equivalent" units [H*(10)] and its measuring range comprises 9 decades (from 10 nSv/h up to 10 Sv/h). This wide measuring range enables indications of minor changes in the ambient natural radioactivity level as well as measuring of extremely high rate that may result in even 100% human mortality after 30 minutes of penetrating radiation.

GAMMA DETECTOR TECHNICAL CONCEPT:

The detector operates on 12V DC with current of about 200 mA. For the evaluation of the measured data a personal computer (PC) and interface is required. Data transfer report RS-232 is used in the case of single detector. If data from several detectors were processed by single PC, the data transfer report RS-485 is required. The report RS-232 allows distance between the detector and the PC up to 1.500m, while the report RS-485 up to 5.000m.

GAMMA DETECTOR STRUCTURE:

BITT Technology applies the proportional counting tube model NPGD02 as the detector. This counting tube has been in operation in networks in countries of Western Europe in great numbers for long time.

This counting tube, bought worldwide, became as a new environmental surveillance standard. This model is unique for its ability of the 9-decade measuring range with only one detector.

One of the major advantages is that the sensitivity of the proportional counting tube at the natural ambient radiation is rather large despite the wide measuring range. The endurance is practically independent on the number of impulses.

The signal processing unit has been developed on the basis of experience gained in many years.

The microprocessor unit processes the signals from the counting tube, converts them to dose rate units, checks uninterruptible the operational data of the detector, stores the measured data and provides communication between the detector and central unit.

An extra stable high-voltage unit ensures solid operation of the counting tube.

All electric inputs and outputs are equipped with special protection filters (NEMP +++) providing excellent lightning protection as well.

The detector is accommodated in a waterproof aluminium tube of 3 mm wall thickness. All joints are also waterproof.

The RSDL DATALOGGER is a full electronic measuring instrument and includes all components for data logging, processing, display and transmission of the measured values which are made available from the sensor RS03/232.

The current supply for the sensor and the charging controller for the accumulator are also put in the RS-DL.
