Contrôle Analytique introduces its new GCS-100 gas calibration system. A leading manufacturer of trace gas analyzers since 1995, Contrôle Analytique knows better than anyone the importance of calibration in the process of measuring gas impurities. Tailoring equipment to your needs in measuring H2, O2, N2, Ar, CH4, CO, CO2, Ne, Xe, Kr, He and light hydrocarbons, Contrôle Analytique is always trying to push further the measurement of low concentration gases. The GCS-100 is now offering the possibility to generate with reliable accuracy low ppb calibration gases.

Operation Principle
This dilution system main purpose lies in the mixing of a span gas ranging from low to high ppm purity with a zero background gas in order to decrease the concentration of the span by producing a blended output. This dilution result is then used in the calibration of your equipment.



To mix the gases together, the span gas flow is added to the main path in which flows the zero background gas. The software uses the following formula to calculate and display in real time the concentration of the blended output:

[Blend] = [Zero] x Fz + [Span] x Fs

  • Fz = zero gas flow
  • Fs = span gas flow
  • Fb = blended gas flow (Fb = Fz + Fs)
  • [Zero] = zero background gas concentration (can contain any impurity)
  • [Span] = span gas concentration (can contain any impurity)
  • [Blend] = blended gas concentration

Example
  • Take a span gas of 2ppm of H2 and 5 ppm of O2 in a balance of Ar (999993 ppm);
  • Let it flow in the DCS-100 at 1 cc/min;
  • Take a zero background gas of pure Ar;
  • Let it flow in at 499 cc/min;
  • You will obtain a blended gas of 4.0 ppb of H2, 10.0 ppb of O2 and 999999.99 ppm of Ar.
Internal Characteristics
No dead volume The bypass set-up of the pressure measurement assures no dead volume in the critical flow path since there is no flow control element directly in this path
Pre-calibrated for permanent and rare gases Flows passing through restrictors are pre-calibrated for different gases at different back pressures
Compensated blended outlet pressure The GCS-100 regulates its back pressure so that the blended output is at constant pressure, assuring a stable pressure on the input of your analyzer; flow calculations take in consideration these outlet pressures.
Low gas consumption For example, diluting with the GCS-100 consumes less gas than using mass flow controllers (MFC).

The GCS-100 can be easily controlled through a Contrôle Analytique K4000NG Trace Gas Analyzer. The K4000NG new feature of remote control through Internet is therefore extendable to the GCS-100.
