Byotrol's World
Byotrol plc is an anti microbial technology company. Byotrol products were first developed in 1999 when, following some remarkable results achieved in a speciality coatings research investigation; a project was started to develop a unique range of sanitizing products for industry, the home and the world around us.
The Byotrol range uses Byotrol’s patented anti-microbial technology and consists of a portfolio of carefully designed products that combat a wide array of micro-organisms that are medically important, cause damage or spoilage and that threaten our safe food supply. Byotrol’s materials can be added into the manufacturing process or used directly to control micro-organisms safely.
One of its unique properties is residual/durable action: Byotrol remains active even after it has dried, providing a long lasting active protection for extended periods.
Products containing Byotrol continue to kill and control bacteria, mould and fungi for weeks, months and even years when incorporated in coatings and polymers and for many days when used as sanitizers / disinfectants. Byotrol technology can be incorporated into a vast number of products and can offer protection / sanitization for many years. The long lasting residual effect of Byotrol on the substrate is one outstanding feature of Byotrol. Once the area has been treated, microbial contamination will be controlled for a long time.

What is Byotrol? Byotrol is a new approach to microbial control that uses a physical effect combined with a chemical control to give broadband / broad spectrum sanitization of treated materials. What does microbial control mean?
It means taking the risk out of the presence of microbes by (in Byotrol’s case) hugely reducing the potential for reproduction and the viable numbers of microbes to safe levels. How does Byotrol work?
By rapidly disrupting the microbes ability to reproduce and maintain colonies / biofilm and then ensuring that the remaining organisms are killed or rendered non-viable. How can Byotrol be used and where?
Byotrol should be used anywhere where concern about microbial contamination is an issue. Byotrol can be used as a surface cleaner / sanitizer or can be added in the manufacturing process of products like handcleaners, soaps, surface cleaners, paints, carpets, textiles, aircon filters, disinfectants, plastics, steel coatings and many others. Why is Byotrol safe to use?
Byotrol is safe to use because the physical effect is targeted at microscopic levels and has negligible effect on larger organisms (like a mousetrap does not endanger an elephant). The physical effect weakens the ‘bugs’ so the required chemical (biocides) doses are kept to a minimum. Technical principles behind Byotrol
Byotrol’s patented technology harnesses both physical forces and chemical controls in a new way.
The molecular backbone of Byotrol has associated with it (by non-chemical bonds) a chosen number of approved and well understood biocides.
The effect of the biocides is magnified because the micro-organisms’ ability to survive and reproduce is severely impaired by the combination of effects.
