Rapid Detection of MRSA or methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus - BacLite flex®

On Tuesday 27th Sept 2005 at the IBMS in Birmingham, Acolyte Biomedica & Bio-Stat Diagnostics announced the launch of an improved process for detecting MRSA Superbug called the Baclite Flex System, which is now being sold in the UK Market.

BacLite Flex is a system comprising an instrument and reagents, for the rapid identification (ID) and antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) of clinically significant bacteria and yeasts. BacLite is designed to operate within the clinical laboratory, improving laboratory throughput and substantially reducing the time necessary to provide a definitive ID and AST result to the clinician.

BacLite Flex technology was originally developed by the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory at Porton Down, a division of The UK Ministry of Defence. Acolyte Biomedica have appointed Bio-Stat Diagnostics to promote and sell the Baclite Technology into the Micro-Biology Departments within the NHS Trust, allowing detection of the MRSA Super Bug in 5hrs. Rhys International in partnership with JP BioMed are proud to announce their appointment to supply Bio-Stat Diagnostics with the instrumentation required to support the Baclite rapid detection process.
