Beckton Dickinson (BD) - FACS Vantage - Cell Sorter

It is a conventional cell sorter, cells can be physically separated at an approximate rate of 2000-3000 cells per second.

It has a 2W Enterprise laser that can produce 488nm or low power UV light. It also has an additional laser, 5W Argon ion.

Coherent Innova 90 for several visible and higher power UV. There are 4 PMT's (fluorescence detectors) currently arranged for analysis of FITC, PE with 488nm excitation from the Enterprise laser, and indo-1 (405nm+485nm) with UV excitation from the Innova 90 laser.

Additional optical filters could be purchased at a relatively low cost to provide greater flexibility for analysis of different dye combinations (4 max) Working order.

The instrument has been well maintained and has never been heavily used. It is in good working order except the Innova 90 has not been switched on for some time and is therefore over-pressure and in need of a bit of attention.

This is however an additional laser and therefore not required except for applications such as intracellular measurements with indo-1.

Included are water cooling unit for the 2 lasers, unit for air pressure, computer + cellquest software, CD writer for data storage. Services required.

High voltage supply for Enterprise laser and Innova 90 (if Innova 90 required) mains water for laser water cooling unit mains electricity (several sockets).
